#19 Movie: Scott Pilgrim VS the World
When Scott Pilgrim VS the World came out, video game nerds the world over rejoiced. This movie is full of awesome (and a few obscure) video game references that will make you chuckle. But it’s an enjoyable movie even without them. The story is about Scott Pilgrim (duh), who decides that he needs to get his messed up life in order. He meets the girl of dreams ,Ramona, but she tells him he can’t date her unless he defeats the 7 Evil Exes, an elite organization of Ramona’s six ex-boyfriends and her one ex-girlfriend (it’s complicated), that attempt to kill anyone who dates Ramona. One thing I will always regret is not putting this movie in my Top 11 Comedies way back in September.
#18 Game: Machinarium
Shortly after putting Machinarium as the sixth most artistic game on my Top 11 Most Artistic Games list, I actually bought the game. And boy do I love it. I estimate I’m about 70% done with the game, and I’m already prepared to say it probably deserved to be at least in the top three. It tells the tale of Josef, a robot looking for his girlfriend, who’s been taken away by the evil Black Cap Brotherhood. Along the way, Josef learns that the Black Cap Brotherhood is planning to blow up the city’s tower. So naturally Josef has to stop that too. Just play it, it’s beautiful and fun, and it’s only ten bucks.
