#25 Movie: Close Encounters of the Third Kind
I had trouble putting this on here. To me, Close Encounters of the Third Kind will always be the sci-fi movie for people who don’t like sci-fi. All the people I know who don’t like sci-fi, like this movie. If you watch it closely, you’ll realize that nothing bad happens in this movie, and doesn’t try to build tension at all. You could say the whole “what does the mountain have to do with anything?” plot line builds tension, but the revelation of it’s meaning is executed in a rather boring way. But, it’s place in history is not to be ignored, Close Encounters of the Third Kind helped popularized the sci-fi genre, and, despite my complaints, is still a good movie.
#25 Game: Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
DK: Jungle Beat is a fantastic little platformer played entirely with….. bongos. Yes, this game was played with a special controller that was in fact, bongos. Hit the left bongo to go left, the right bongo go right, hit both at the same time to jump, and clap to perform an action such as grab bananas. That’s it. The levels were also fantastic, and in some levels it was entirely possible to beat the whole thing without touching the ground. And it was made by the same Nintendo studio that made Super Mario Galaxy. Just play it. You’ll thank me.
