#29 Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean
They came out with a film based off a ride at Disney? And it was good?! Yeah, Pirates of the Caribbean was a fantastic film, with a great story, perfectly choreographed action scenes, some witty dialogue, some mythology thrown in, a fantastic cast, and most of all, attention to actual pirate lore. Disney didn’t just make up a story and go with it, they made the events of the film actually sync up with pirate history. And that is why Pirates of the Caribbean deserves the #29 spot.
#29 Game: Klonoa
Yeah, it’s a little dorky, and yeah, Klonoa sounds like some kind of disease, and yeah, the sequel was longer. But the original was much more original, in both the levels, and the characters. This game also has some fantastic music, from the toe-tapping Balue’s Theme, to the haunting Cave of Dreams (I think that’s what it’s called.) The real reason to play Klonoa is the perfectly executed platforming. In Klonoa, you can use a magic ring to capture enemies, and use them as projectiles by throwing them back. You can also use a captured enemy to double jump. Klonoa is a fantastic game, but let me tell you, it’s short. REALLY short. Like, Drill Dozer short (has anyone besides me actually played Drill Dozer?) And it’s easy. REALLY easy. Like Drill Dozer easy. Still, play it. It’ll be some of the best 4 hours of your gaming life. Oh yeah, just make sure you change the voice-over in this game from English to Phantomilion. You’ll thank me later.
