It’s hard to review a game like Garry’s Mod, just like it’s hard to review games like WarioWare DIY and Minecraft. Gmod (as it’s officially abbriviated) gives you no goals, instead giving you a variety of Half-Life 2 charcters, weapons, and objects to experiment and have fun with. Now you can finally find out if it’s possible to kill a zombie with a gumball machine! If have any other games that use the Source engine (Portal, TF2, Counter-Strike Source, Half-Life 2 Ep. 1 or Ep.2) you can use the objects in those games as well! Using the game’s ragdoll physics experimenter, you can manipulate the characters positions and facial expressions to create some hilarious scenes(see below picture). My favorite thing to do was create a huge army of zombies, then make a small squad of medics and refugees, and help them fight the huge number of undead. Gmod gives you all the tools you need for a good time and leaves it at that, which is both the game’s blessing and curse. Maybe it’s just me, but it would have been fun to have some sort of Challenge maps that made you have to say, build a contraption to make a ball roll across a lake or make a barricade to stop a horde of zombies. But, as it is, Gmod is a great sandbox and one of the best creation tools in gaming, and easily one of Steam’s best, just remember to update your item list today (in Gmod) so you can get TF2’s Monoculus before he goes away!
